Project Management
The art of managing the four dimensions of projects: Time, Cost, Quality, Scope
Good project management plays an essential role in the effective and efficient delivery
of goods and services. All of our projects are managed with guidance from Prince2
(PRojects IN Controlled Environments). We have taken elements of this methodology
that work well for us and built them into a set of ISO procedures and working practices.
Our way of working provides consistency without being too prescribed as simply applying a
method ‘to the letter’ will not always guarantee
success. We appreciate that each of our projects and clients is different; that is why our
management framework can be tailored to suit what’s best for you.
Process elements
In a similar vein, having a process that may be scaled to suit large and small project
engagements is equally important. As the overheads of the PRINCE 2 methodology are
not insignificant, we apply it sensibly, only using those components which reduce
risk and add stakeholder transparency. The key elements of our process are:
- Quality review techniques - the reduction of risk (or creation of certainty)
- Managing time, cost and quality and scope in close liaison with all project stakeholders
- Maintaining good relationships with timely and accurate reporting standards
Our development teams use SCRUM which is an iterative and incremental process for
delivering software. Changes in software requirements happen quickly and often
unexpectedly. SCRUM helps us to address unpredicted challenges and to respond to
emerging requirements. Coupled with a structured approach to managing projects,
SCRUM helps us to deliver on time, on spec. and on budget.
Proven project management framework
In summary, project managers at Objectivity adhere to the procedures outlined by
our ISO 9001:2008 certification, are guided by Prince II and control development using
SCRUM. Having the right set of tools and methodologies helps keep you well informed
of the exact state of your project. At Objectivity we prefer to keep surprises to
a minimum.
Few people will argue against the use of a proven project management framework.
However, we largely attribute our success to good working relationships with our
clients. After all, it’s often a lack of direction rather than a lack of time that
can cause the biggest problems.
