National Outsourcing Association Awards praise Objectivity

On the evening of Thursday 04 September, members of both the UK and Polish team headed to London’s Shakespeare’s Globe to attend the National Outsourcing Association Professional Awards Ceremony. We had been nominated as finalists in two categories – Best IT Outsourcing Team and Best Offshored Team. Each category required us to provide a detailed example of a project we have worked on in partnership with our customers against a set of strict criteria.

Best IT Outsourcing Team

We entered the category of Best IT Outsourcing Team in recognition of the good work the KodeX team achieved working with Immobilien Scout24 (is24) and the delivery of a Premium Subscription Property Toolbar critical to their new business strategy. This project started out with a single scrum team of seven, who immediately proved their expertise through developing of a common library that enabled consistent development and administration of new advertisements’. Soon is24 asked us to create a second scrum team, re-assigning the KodeX team to work on strategic developments for the “NewBiz” Business Unit.

Being chosen as a finalist for the Best IT Outsourcing Team award is great recognition for the KodeX team, whose flexibility and co-operation at an operational level was essential to ensure the agile development process was successful. is24 allowed the KodeX to work autonomously, taking full responsibility for the results with regard to functionality and quality.

 Best Offshored Team

The second finalist category at the National Outsourcing Association Professional Awards was for Best Offshored Team was open to nearshore/offshore teams that could prove they had delivered services for the UK market in five key areas – the project deliverables; the composition of the team assigned with the project; the team’s contribution and vision; quantifiable evidence of the team’s contribution; and what made that team’s performance noteworthy.

Our entry included detailed examples of the Ascentric project and explained how in 2012, after beating beat strong competition to become a preferred development partner for Ascentric, we went on to play an integral role in moving the team at Ascentric from waterfall to agile project development – creating a scalable architecture to support the organisation’s projected growth. In this example our team in Wroclaw deserve recognition because they worked tirelessly with the UK Ascentric team to become close to their developers to help transform their development mentality – but don’t just take our word for it…

 How we achieved it

The collaboration on this project was achieved through having:

  • Dedicated video conferencing equipment to provide continual communication.
  • Weekly update meetings and monthly stakeholder reviews, with a constant focus on improving and refining working practices.
  • Ascentric and Immobilien Scout24 staff routinely visit the team in Poland, for up to a week at a time.

Being shortlisted at finalists in the National Outsourcing Association Professional Awards was a great honor and the success is down to the hard work from our teams in the UK and Poland.
